Aesthetic Ptosis Repair
Surgical Artistry
OVERVIEW
Aesthetic ptosis repair lifts a drooping upper eyelid to improve eye symmetry and create a more alert, wide-eyed appearance. Unlike medically necessary ptosis repair, aesthetic ptosis repair is motivated by cosmetic goals. Dr. Gordon approaches each case with an artist's eye, ensuring the elevated eyelid position looks natural and harmonizes with the patient's facial features.
BENEFITS
Restores symmetry between the two eyelids
Creates a more open, alert, and youthful eye appearance
Subtle lift that enhances without looking operated
Can address unilateral (one eye) or bilateral (both eyes) ptosis
Long-lasting results with precise levator muscle adjustment
AM I A CANDIDATE?
- Candidates are adults who have noticeable drooping of one or both upper eyelids that affects their confidence or facial symmetry, even when the droop is not severe enough to impair vision. Good health and realistic expectations are essential. The evaluation includes careful eyelid measurements and assessment of levator muscle function.
THE PROCEDURE
Through an incision placed in the natural upper eyelid crease, the levator aponeurosis is identified, tightened, and sutured at the ideal height and contour. The procedure is often performed with the patient awake so that eyelid height can be adjusted in real time. Fine absorbable sutures close the incision, leaving a scar hidden within the natural crease.
