Surgical Artistry
OVERVIEW
Upper and lower eyelid blepharoplasty removes or repositions excess skin and fat from the eyelids to improve vision obstruction and create a more youthful, rested eye appearance. Dr. Gordon's precision approach ensures results that look naturally refreshed — never overdone — with careful attention to maintaining the unique characteristics of each patient's eyes.
BENEFITS
Removes skin folds that obstruct the upper visual field
Reduces under-eye puffiness and fat herniation
Creates a more alert, youthful eye appearance
Incisions hidden within natural eyelid creases
Can be combined with other procedures for comprehensive rejuvenation
AM I A CANDIDATE?
- Good candidates are adults with excess upper eyelid skin causing visual impairment or cosmetic concern, and those with significant lower eyelid fat pads or skin laxity causing a tired appearance. Non-smokers in good general health with realistic expectations are ideal. A visual field test may be needed for insurance coverage of functional upper blepharoplasty.
THE PROCEDURE
Upper blepharoplasty incisions are made within the natural eyelid crease; excess skin and, when present, herniated orbital fat are precisely excised. Lower blepharoplasty may be performed through a transconjunctival (inside the eyelid) or subciliary (below the lash line) approach depending on whether skin removal is needed. Both procedures are performed under local anesthesia with sedation as outpatient surgery.
