Hyaluronidase for Filler Dissolution
Natural Results
OVERVIEW
Hyaluronidase is an enzyme that rapidly and safely dissolves hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal fillers. It is used to correct filler complications, reverse unwanted results, or as an emergency treatment in cases of vascular occlusion caused by filler. Dr. Gordon keeps hyaluronidase on hand for all filler procedures and is experienced in its safe and effective use.
BENEFITS
Rapidly dissolves HA fillers in minutes to hours
First-line emergency treatment for vascular occlusion from filler
Corrects overfilling, lumps, and asymmetry
Safe and well-tolerated with minimal side effects
Allows for precise, targeted dissolution without affecting surrounding tissue
AM I A CANDIDATE?
- Hyaluronidase is appropriate for anyone with unwanted results from hyaluronic acid filler — including Restylane, Juvederm, Belotero, and similar products. It is not effective for non-HA fillers such as Radiesse or Sculptra. In vascular emergency situations, prompt treatment is critical and does not require a separate consultation.
THE PROCEDURE
A small volume of hyaluronidase is injected directly into the area containing the filler to be dissolved. The enzyme begins working immediately, with most of the filler dissolving within 24 to 48 hours. Skin testing for allergy can be performed prior to elective dissolution. For emergency vascular occlusion, high-dose hyaluronidase is administered promptly without delay for skin testing.
