AM I A CANDIDATE?
- Ideal candidates have noticeable under-eye hollowing (tear trough deformity) rather than under-eye bags caused by fat herniation. Patients with significant fat herniation are better served by surgical blepharoplasty. A thorough assessment distinguishes between hollow tear troughs and bag-related puffiness to ensure the most appropriate treatment.
THE PROCEDURE
A fine cannula is used to deliver micro-aliquots of hyaluronic acid filler into the suborbicularis oculi fat (SOOF) plane and along the tear trough groove. The cannula technique reduces the risk of bruising, vascular occlusion, and irregularity compared to sharp needles. Precise layering achieves a smooth, natural contour without the telltale swollen appearance of incorrectly placed filler.
