Blepharoplasty — commonly known as eyelid surgery — is a surgical procedure performed to reverse the effects of ptosis by restoring the full function of the eyelid and improving the patient's overall appearance. Dr. Gordon specializes in medically indicated blepharoplasty to remove excess skin that obstructs the visual field, as well as aesthetic refinements that create a more youthful and rested eye appearance.

AM I A CANDIDATE?
- Ideal candidates are adults experiencing vision obstruction or significant cosmetic concern from upper eyelid skin laxity or lower eyelid puffiness. Good overall health, realistic expectations, and non-smoking status are key factors. A visual field test may be required for insurance purposes if functional impairment is present.
THE PROCEDURE
Excess skin and, where applicable, herniated orbital fat are carefully excised through incisions placed within the natural eyelid crease. Dr. Gordon precisely tailors the amount of tissue removed to preserve natural eyelid movement and contour. Sutures are removed within one week, and residual swelling typically resolves within two weeks.
