Cataract Surgery
Vision & Precision
OVERVIEW
Cataract surgery is a safe, outpatient procedure that removes the eye's cloudy natural lens and replaces it with a clear artificial intraocular lens (IOL) to restore crisp, clear vision. Dr. Gordon uses the latest micro-incision techniques to minimize trauma and accelerate recovery. Most patients notice a dramatic improvement in vision within days of the procedure.
BENEFITS
Restores clear, high-definition vision obscured by cataracts
Outpatient procedure performed under local anesthesia
Modern IOL options can reduce or eliminate the need for glasses
Micro-incision technique means no stitches required in most cases
Long-lasting results — artificial lenses do not develop cataracts
AM I A CANDIDATE?
- You may be a good candidate for cataract surgery if you experience blurred or cloudy vision, increased sensitivity to glare and bright lights, difficulty with night driving, or fading of colors. A comprehensive evaluation with Dr. Gordon will confirm whether cataract surgery is appropriate for your specific stage of lens clouding and overall eye health.
THE PROCEDURE
Dr. Gordon performs phacoemulsification, a microsurgical technique in which ultrasonic energy gently breaks up the cloudy lens so it can be removed through a tiny incision. A foldable intraocular lens (IOL) is then inserted and unfolds to sit permanently within the natural lens capsule. The incision is self-sealing and typically requires no sutures.
