Ptosis Repair
Vision & Precision
OVERVIEW
Ptosis repair surgery tightens the upper eyelid to correct a drooping eyelid caused by a weakness or separation of the levator muscle. This condition can obstruct vision, cause a tired appearance, and create significant functional discomfort. Dr. Gordon is fellowship-trained in oculoplastic surgery, making him uniquely qualified to diagnose and surgically correct ptosis with precision and natural-looking results.
BENEFITS
Corrects vision obstruction caused by a drooping upper eyelid
Restores symmetry between both eyes

Durable, long-lasting correction of the levator muscle
AM I A CANDIDATE?
- Ptosis repair is appropriate for patients of any age — including children — who have a significantly drooping upper eyelid that obscures vision or causes a cosmetically bothersome appearance. Dr. Gordon conducts a thorough evaluation including visual field testing and eyelid measurements to determine the best surgical approach for each patient.
THE PROCEDURE
The most common technique involves a small incision within the upper eyelid crease through which the levator aponeurosis is tightened or reattached. In select cases, a posterior approach through the inside of the eyelid (Muller's muscle resection) may be used for patients with good levator function. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia with sedation as an outpatient.
