OVERVIEW
Comprehensive eye exams with Dr. Gordon go far beyond a vision test. These detailed evaluations assess the health of the entire eye — including the retina, optic nerve, lens, and eyelids — to detect diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic eye disease in their earliest, most treatable stages. Regular exams are essential to preserving long-term vision.

AM I A CANDIDATE?
- Annual comprehensive eye exams are recommended for all adults. Patients with diabetes, high blood pressure, a family history of glaucoma or macular degeneration, or anyone who has experienced changes in vision should be seen at least once per year or as directed by Dr. Gordon.
THE PROCEDURE
The exam includes visual acuity testing, refraction, tonometry to measure eye pressure, slit-lamp biomicroscopy to examine the anterior segment of the eye, and dilated fundus examination to inspect the retina and optic nerve. Additional imaging such as optical coherence tomography (OCT) may be performed as clinically indicated.
