Overview
Brow lift surgery, also known as browplasty, corrects the loose skin and soft tissue that builds on the forehead with aging and makes the face look old and tired. A brow lift is best for patients who feel their sagging eyebrows made them look tired, sad, or angry; patients with deep lines or creases along their forehead and between the eyebrows; also patients who have excess skin, fat, and tissue on their forehead. Dr. James Gordon, an oculofacial plastic surgeon serving patients in Westchester County and New York City, has years of experience in performing brow lifts that rejuvenate the entire face without looking tight or unnatural.

Surgical Technique
Dr. Gordon uses different techniques to perform a brow lift depending on the individual needs of the patient. Common techniques include an open brow lift, an endoscopic brow lift, and a limited incision technique, but most brow lifts will be completed in 1 – 2 hours. During the initial consultation, Dr. Gordon will choose the best technique for the patient’s unique treatment plan based on their needs, concerns, and goals. While the incisions made in each technique differ, all techniques will remove the excess skin from the forehead and reposition the underlying muscles and tissues as needed.
During/After Surgery
Most patients are able to leave the same day as their brow lift surgery after a brief recovery and observation period. Dr. Gordon will give each patient aftercare instructions that will help to minimize their discomfort and speed their healing process. Patients should rest and avoid moderate to strenuous activities for at least 1 – 2 weeks after their brow lift. Patients should schedule a follow up appointment for 1 – 2 weeks after the procedure so Dr. Gordon can monitor and examine the patient’s results.
Expected Cost
A brow lift by Dr. Gordon can cost between $5,000 and $10,000 depending on the extent of the surgery. During the initial consultation, Dr. Gordon will be able to discuss the treatment options and his surgical coordinator will review pricing.

Brow Lift FAQs
Final Results?
While the forehead will show improvement immediately after surgery, patient generally see their final results 6 months after their surgery. The results of the brow lift are permanent, but natural aging will continue to alter the face. Patients may consider returning for touch-up treatments as needed.
Lift Vs. Injectables?
Injectable wrinkle fillers, like Juvéderm, Radiesse, and Sculptra, provide temporary relief from lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin. Injectable wrinkle relaxers, like BOTOX and Dysport, can soften the dynamic wrinkles in the forehead, but again, the results are only temporary. Patients may consider starting with injectable treatments to decide how they feel about the results before getting brow lift surgery.
Visible Scars?
The location of the incisions will depend on the brow lift technique that is used, but Dr. Gordon keeps incisions small and clean for less visible scarring. Dr. Gordon also takes care to make the incisions in the hairline or other locations that will mask the scars. Patient should speak to Dr. Gordon about proper scar care and what they can do to ensure their incisions heal as well as possible.
