Overview
A mini facelift, also known as the weekend facelift, quick lift, or lifestyle lift, treats mild to moderate signs of aging on the face. A mini facelift may include removing excess skin throughout the face and tightening areas like the cheeks, the jawline, and the neck. A mini facelift uses smaller incisions, costs less, and has a shorter recovery period than a traditional, full facelift. Dr. James Gordon, an award-winning oculofacial plastic surgeon, performs mini-facelifts to rejuvenate and refresh the faces of his patients in Westchester County and New York City. For more dramatic results, patients may consider combining a mini facelift with another procedure, such as laser skin resurfacing or eyelid surgery.

Surgical Technique
Dr. Gordon can perform an SMAS (superficial muscular aponeurotic system) mini facelift with the patient under IV sedation in his accredited surgical facility. Based on the patient’s surgical goals, Dr. Gordon will remove excess skin, fat, and tissue before smoothing the facial muscles and remaining skin.
During/After Surgery
A mini facelift generally takes 2 – 3 hours to complete. Most patients will be able to return home for their recovery after being observed and checked after the procedure. Dr. Gordon will give each patient aftercare instructions that will help them heal faster and with less pain. Patients should expect to have temporary side effects like bruising, swelling, redness, and mild discomfort as the body heals, but this should subside within 7 – 10 days after the procedure. Dr. Gordon asks his patients to return 1 – 2 weeks after their procedure so he can examine the patient’s results and monitor their recovery process.
Expected Cost
A mini facelift can cost between $6,000 and $8,000 depending on the extent of the procedure. Dr. Gordon will be able to discuss the recommended treatment plan and his surgical coordinator will review the pricing.

Mini Facelift FAQs
Natural Results?
Since the mini facelift is a more conservative procedure, most patients achieve a more natural improvement than they would with a full facelift. The mini facelift subtly enhances and defines the face so patients look younger and more attractive, but not overdone.
Permanent Results?
The results of a mini facelift are both permanent and not. The treatment will be there permanently, but the natural effects of aging and gravity will continue and this will affect the patient’s overall appearance. Many patients use injectables, like wrinkle fillers and wrinkle relaxers, to help maintain their results after a few years.
Best Age?
There is no best age to get a mini facelift or a full facelift. Every person ages differently based on their skin type, genetics, skin care, and other factors. Some patients may be ready for a mini facelift in their 40s, while other patients may not consider facial surgery until their 60s or 70s. Patients should not focus on their age, but on how a mini facelift could improve their appearance and boost their confidence.
